A 15-vehicle accident occurred on SR-417 in Seminole County, Central Florida on Saturday night, October 23, 2021. The accident involved 24 people. Troopers are investigating the reason behind this multi-vehicle accident. Florida Highway Patrol was called at around 9:44 p.m. to the southbound lanes at mile marker 44 for the investigation.
Out of the 24 people involved, six were taken to a hospital and the injuries to all of them were believed to be non-fatal. According to crash investigators, the accident primarily involved two vehicles, a 2012 Chevy Cruz and a 2017 Volkswagen Jetta, both driven by 18-year-olds. Both of them were transported to the hospital after the crash and they both said to authorities that the other was moving aggressively toward them.
After the initial accident, a chain reaction took place that involved 13 other vehicles. A witness told investigators that the initial two cars had supposedly been racing and the dashcam of one of the witnesses had been reviewed.
According to officials, the accident is still under investigation and they are not sure if the crash involved road rage or street racing.
If any nearby person or vehicle were injured/damaged as a result of the driver’s negligence, there would likely be a valid personal injury claim.
