Five people, including two kids, were killed in a crash, involving a Ford Explorer and a Nissan Frontier, on late Sunday night near Plant City.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), the SUV was travelling north on State Road 39 when it crossed the centerline of the highway and veered into oncoming traffic. It collided head-on with a Nissan Frontier. After the crash, the Explorer and the Frontier came to a rest on the west shoulder of the highway and the southbound lane of SR-39 respectively. As no lights were illuminating from the Frontier, a southbound tractor-trailer ended up colliding with it.
The 20-year female driver of the Ford along with three other female passengers aged 56, 12 and 1 could not survive the crash. Two other female passengers of the vehicle sustained serious injuries. The driver of Nissan, a 53-year-old man from Valrico, also died on the scene. The driver of the tractor-trailer was safe.
As per the FHP, everyone involved in the crash was wearing a seatbelt.
If any nearby person or vehicle were injured/damaged as a result of the driver’s negligence, there would likely be a valid personal injury claim.
