A single-vehicle crash, involving a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck, happened at 12:56 a.m. on Sunday, September 4, 2022, in Marion County, Florida. A 28-year-old man from Belleview died in the accident.
According to troopers, the pickup truck was moving southbound on U.S. Highway 301 in the outside lane and the Belleview man, who was driving the truck, tried to negotiate a curve to the left but failed to maintain his lane, which caused the truck to swerve right onto the wet grass shoulder.
A Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) report revealed that the driver then attempted to overcorrect left, which forced his vehicle across both southbound lanes of US-301, before moving into the centre grass median. When the truck entered the centre median, the driver steered to the right, which caused the vehicle to rotate. The truck continued to rotate until it overturned onto its left side. The vehicle then continued to overturn before coming to a stop in the median, facing northwest.
The pickup truck driver was not wearing a seatbelt and during the crash, he was ejected from the vehicle. He was declared dead at the accident scene by Marion County Fire Rescue.
If any nearby person or vehicle were injured/damaged as a result of the truck driver’s negligence, there would likely be a valid personal injury claim.
