A fatal accident occurred on Tuesday evening on the Florida Turnpike in Osceola County near Kissimmee, resulting in the death of a 73-year-old pedestrian.
The Florida Highway Patrol reported that the man was hit by an SUV while walking south in the northbound lanes near mile marker 247. Unfortunately, the man was then struck by another vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.
The drivers and passengers of the two vehicles involved in the accident suffered only minor injuries, according to the FHP crash report.
The reason why the man was walking on the roadway remains unknown, and an investigation into the incident is currently underway. The accident caused all lanes to be closed, resulting in significant traffic congestion that lasted for several miles.
If any nearby person or vehicle were injured/damaged as a result of the driver’s negligence, there would likely be a valid personal injury claim.
