An accident occurred, involving a school bus & two pickup trucks, at Highway 331 & Hawthorne Road in Walton County, Florida at 04:23 p.m. on Monday, April 5, 2021.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a school bus was traveling toward the north on U.S. Highway 331 in the left lane, but just moments before the mishap, the bus driver left the roadway and started moving into the southbound lane and eventually came into the path of the two oncoming pickup trucks. The bus after hitting the rear left side of the first pickup truck, moved further and collided with the front left side of the second pickup truck, causing the vehicle to rotate and leave the road.
The 2nd pickup truck driver, a 75-year-old Freeport man, succumbed to his injuries while the 77-year-old driver of the 1st pickup truck, who was from Bruce City, did not receive any injuries. After this accident, the bus driver was taken to a nearby hospital with no severe injuries. Only a few of the 29 students in the school bus sustained minor injuries. The crash is under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol.
If any nearby person or vehicle were injured/damaged as a result of the truck driver’s negligence, there would likely be a valid personal injury claim.
