A fatal crash, involving an SUV, occurred on Interstate-95 in Duval County, Florida in the early morning hours of April 24, 2022. A 9-year-old boy and a truck driver died in the accident.
According to Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), a truck stopped just before 5 a.m. in the emergency lane of I-95, south of the exit of Pecan Park Road and its two passengers – a nine-year-old boy and the truck driver, a 35-year-old male – were standing beside their vehicle on the shoulder.
While both were standing on the shoulder, an SUV moving on I-95 swerved into the emergency shoulder and hit the standing truck and the two passengers. Both truck passengers were taken to a local hospital, where they were declared dead.
Another truck passenger, a 36-year-old woman, who was inside the truck as well as the SUV driver, a 24-year-old woman from Yulee, did not sustain any injuries. FHP is investigating the cause of the accident. Lanes on I-95 at Pecan Park Road were blocked for several hours after the crash.
If any nearby person or vehicle were injured/damaged as a result of the driver’s negligence, there would likely be a valid personal injury claim.
