A single-vehicle, rollover crash, involving a Mazda Miata car, happened at the 151-mile post on northbound Interstate-95 in Indian River County, Florida at around 2:10 p.m. on Sunday, July 17, 2022. A 69-year-old woman from Tavernier died in the accident.
According to officials, the woman was driving her Mazda car on southbound I-95. For the reason unknown, the woman lost control of her vehicle, which caused it to swerve toward the median and roll over. The car finally came to a stop in an upright position in the right lane on northbound I-95.
The fire rescuers and troopers said that the woman – the only occupant of the Mazda vehicle – was declared dead at the accident scene. The woman was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.
The highway was closed and northbound traffic was diverted off State Road 60 at the 147-mile post after the crash. All lanes on Interstate 95 were later reopened by 8:00 p.m. on the same day.
If any nearby person or vehicle were injured/damaged as a result of the driver’s negligence, there would likely be a valid personal injury claim.
