A double-vehicle crash involving an SUV and a sedan occurred at a Marion County intersection on Monday, March 6, 2023. An 81-year-old Summerfield woman died in the crash.
According to Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) troopers, the accident occurred at around 1:07 p.m. at Southeast 58 Avenue and Southeast 92nd Loop.
As per the report, a man from Fruitland Park, aged 37, was driving an SUV at high speed westbound on Southeast 92nd Loop. Unfortunately, he failed to notice the red light at the intersection with State Road 35. As a result, the SUV collided with the left side of a sedan heading southbound and passing through the intersection on a green light.
The elderly driver of the sedan, an 81-year-old, was declared dead on the spot. The SUV driver sustained minor injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, as confirmed by the FHP.
If any nearby person or vehicle were injured/damaged as a result of the driver’s negligence, there would likely be a valid personal injury claim.
