A fatal crash early Monday morning shut down the southbound lanes of I-95 near Hillsboro Boulevard in Deerfield Beach. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the collision occurred around 2:30 a.m. when a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van struck a Toyota Corolla that was stopped in the right lane. The Corolla’s driver had reportedly been involved in an earlier crash and was standing outside the vehicle at the time.
Tragically, the 62-year-old man standing beside the Corolla was hit and killed during the impact. Traffic on I-95 southbound was diverted for several hours as authorities investigated the scene. The Florida Highway Patrol continues to investigate the cause of the crash, and it remains unclear whether the van’s driver will face any charges.
If any nearby person or vehicle were injured/damaged as a result of the driver’s negligence, there would likely be a valid personal injury claim.
