LocationJackson County, Florida
TypeMotorcycle/Truck Crash

An accident, involving a truck and a motorcycle, occurred on US 98 in Jackson County, Florida at around at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, February 22, 2021. The crash caused serious injuries to the 46-year-old female motorcyclists.

According to Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), at the time of the crash, the truck driver, a 54-year-old man from Campbellsport, was driving a truck (towing a trailer) toward the south of State Road 73 and was approaching a stop sign. At the same time, the motorcyclist, a 46-year-old woman, was riding toward westbound on US 90 and was making a turn onto State Road 73.

Before coming to a stop, the truck driver swayed his trailer wide into the northbound lane, causing its left-side tandems to stop in the northbound lane. The motorcyclist failed to notice the trailer in her lane, due to which, the left side of the motorcycle hit the left front tandem of the trailer. The motorcycle then started to rotate anticlockwise, turned upside down, and threw the motorcyclist away before coming to rest in the northbound lane of State Road 73 facing west. The truck came to final rest at the site of collision facing south.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Marianna Fire Department, Jackson County Fire Rescue, and Marianna Police Department assisted FHP at the accident scene. The crash is still under investigation.
