A fatal, automobile accident, involving a sedan and some pedestrians, occurred just before 10:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 15, 2021 on Interstate-75, near mile marker 209 in Sarasota County, Florida.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), at the time of the crash, the 34-year-old female driver of the sedan was travelling in the south direction on I-75 when she swerved left onto the paved shoulder and hit some pedestrians, who were helping to change a pickup truck’s tire.
Before coming to a stop, the sedan hit four of the seven pedestrians. The ages of the deceased pedestrians is yet to be released. The pickup truck’s driver along with two other pedestrians – a 19-year-old man and a 22-year-old man – were not harmed or hit by the sedan.
Southbound traffic on the highway, from mile marker 210 (Fruitvale Road) to exit 207 (Bee Ridge Road), was shut down for a few hours after the accident. The roads were cleared early next day morning on July 16, 2021.
If any nearby person or vehicle were injured/damaged as a result of the driver’s negligence, there would likely be a valid personal injury claim.
