A double-vehicle crash, involving a Nissan Pathfinder and a Toyota Tacoma, occurred on Sunday, July 31, 2022, on I-95 in St. Johns County, FL. Two teenagers and an infant sustained injuries in the accident.
According to Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), at the time of the accident, the two teenagers – an 18-year-old girl and a 17-year-old boy from Jacksonville – and a three-month-old baby, were in a Nissan Pathfinder that stopped on the center median on I-95 South near Mile Marker 303. A Toyota Tacoma was moving south in the inside lane of the same highway when the Nissan vehicle began to accelerate and merge off of the median into the lane.
The 18-year-old girl, who was driving the Nissan automobile, tried to avoid hitting the Toyota vehicle but eventually failed. The Toyota automobile struck the back of the Nissan SUV, which, due to the impact, rotated and flipped over off the right side of the road.
One of the Nissan’s passengers was ejected in the crash. The infant and 17-year-old boy in the Nissan SUV suffered serious injuries. Both of them were not secured in the vehicle by a restraint or a seat belt. The Nissan driver sustained minor injuries. The crash is under investigation.
If any nearby person or vehicle were injured/damaged as a result of the driver’s negligence, there would likely be a valid personal injury claim.
