A double-vehicle crash, involving a 2022 BMW 740i and a 2008 Honda Civic, occurred on County Road 448 at Shirley Shores Road in Lake County, at around 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct 29, 2022. A 5-year-old boy and a 29-year-old woman from Mount Dora were critically injured in the crash. The driver of BMW, a 30-year-old Tavares man, has been charged with DUI.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), Daksh Wadhwa, the driver of BMW, was travelling westbound when he veered into the eastbound lanes. The front of BMW hit the right side of the Civic. After the crash, the woman driver of the Civic was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Centre, while her 5-year-old passenger was airlifted to Arnold Palmer Hospital with critical injuries.
The breath sample of Wadhwa, who remained on the scene, was 0.189, which is way above the limit of 0.08 in Florida. Wadhwa was arrested and charged for DUI and possession of cocaine.
