A two-vehicle crash, involving two SUVs, occurred on Interstate 95 in Flagler County at around 11:08 p.m. on July 9, 2022. A man from Islamorada suffered critical injuries, and a woman and five children sustained minor injuries in the accident.
According to a report from Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), the man from Islamorada was in the front passenger seat of the first SUV, which was moving southbound and driven by a 46-year-old woman from Key Largo. At the time of the crash, the first SUV was rear-ended by the other SUV, driven by a 44-year-old man from Georgia, near mile marker 283.
Due to the impact, the first SUV crossed the middle as well as outside lanes of the road, and collided with several trees before coming to rest on the shoulder. The second SUV swerved onto the shoulder and eventually hit some brush.
The FHP report revealed that the Georgia driver, responsible for the crash, was fatigued and failed to control the speed of his vehicle. The man from Islamorada was extricated by rescuers and transported to Halifax Health Medical Center in critical, but stable condition.
The female driver of the first SUV and a 13-year-old boy, an occupant in her SUV, suffered minor injuries. The Georgia driver sustained no injuries, but two 13-year-old girls in his SUV – suffered minor injuries.
If any nearby person or vehicle were injured/damaged as a result of the driver’s negligence, there would likely be a valid personal injury claim.
