A scooter-automobile crash, involving a motorized scooter and a Nissan Altima, happened at the intersection of U.S. Highway 301 and the Lee Roy Selmon Expressway in Tampa, Florida at around 6:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 24, 2022. A 39-year-old scooter driver died in the crash.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, at the time of the accident, the 39-year-old man from Tampa on the scooter was moving northbound on U.S. 301 at the intersection of the Selmon Expressway in the left-turn lane. At the same time, a 28-year-old man from Riverview, along with two other occupants in the Altima car, was moving southbound on U.S. 301 in the right lane, north of the Selmon Expressway.
Reports revealed that at the intersection, the scooter rider turned left and came into the direct path of the Altima vehicle. The scooter then hit the right-front corner of the automobile. The impact caused the scooter rider to eject from his scooter. The scooter driver died at the accident scene. None of the Altima occupants sustained any injuries.
If any nearby person or vehicle were injured/damaged as a result of the driver’s negligence, there would likely be a valid personal injury claim.
