A fatal crash, involving a motorcycle and a sedan, occurred on U.S. Highway 1 in Brevard County, Florida at 1:02 a.m. on Sunday, May 15, 2022. A 65-year-old male motorcyclist died and his 45-year-old female passenger sustained critical injuries in the accident.

According to Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), at the time of the crash, the motorcyclist and his passenger were exiting a parking lot while attempting to turn onto U.S. Highway 1 in Scottsmoor, north of Mims, when they came into the direct path of the sedan, eventually causing the automobile to hit the motorcycle. The sedan, which was moving northbound on U.S. Highway 1, was driving a 35-year-old man from Titusville.

The impact caused both motorcycle riders to eject, and troopers said that it was unknown if both were wearing helmets. According to a crash report, the man was transported to a hospital in Titusville, where he was later declared dead, and his passenger was transported to a hospital in Orlando in critical condition. The sedan driver did not sustain any injuries and remained at the accident scene. The crash is under investigation.
