A fatal crash, involving a motorcycle and an SUV, happened in the afternoon on Sunday, September 19, 2021 on I-275 at Gandy Boulevard in Pinellas County, Florida. The motorcyclist sustained severe injuries and his passenger died in the accident.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), the motorcycle driver, a 44-year-old man from Belle Fourche, South Carolina, was traveling toward the south on I-275 in the inside lane along with his passenger, a 49-year-old woman from Fort Myers.

At the time of the accident, a 60-year-old man from Auburndale, who was driving the SUV, was slowing for the traffic, just ahead of the motorcycle. The motorcyclist failed to stop or slow down and crashed into the rear of the SUV. The impact caused the motorcyclist and his passenger to eject onto the road. Both were then taken to a nearby hospital. The motorcyclist suffered severe injuries and the female passenger died later. Neither of them was wearing helmets.

The SUV’s driver and three passengers did not sustain any injuries.
