A fatal single-vehicle accident occurred just after 7 a.m. on Saturday, December 4, 2021 in the area of Sheridan Street and I-75 in Pembroke Pines, Florida. The driver of the vehicle got injured and a passenger died in the crash.
Initial investigations showed that the driver was moving toward the north on I-75 and entered the exit ramp to move toward the west on Sheridan Street. At the end of the ramp, the driver continued toward the south through the light on Sheridan Street and across all of the travel lanes, according to police.
The automobile collided with the curb on Sheridan Street’s outside lane and went into the air, hitting a tree prior to landing in a drainage culvert and then rolling onto the passenger side. The passenger and driver of the vehicle were taken to Memorial Regional Hospital.
The driver suffered minor injuries. The passenger succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. The Traffic Division’s investigation is underway and charges may be presented on the basis of the final outcome.
The westbound lanes at Sheridan Street and I-75 were reopened later and are now safe for travel.
If any nearby person or vehicle were injured/damaged as a result of the driver’s negligence, there would likely be a valid personal injury claim.
