A fatal, three-vehicle crash, involving two sedan cars and a pickup truck, occurred early Sunday, August 8, 2021 on Florida’s Turnpike in St. Lucie County, Florida. One man killed and another seriously injured in the accident.

Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) said that at the time of the accident, a sedan, driven by a 21-year-old man from Tallahassee, was moving northbound on Florida’s Turnpike at around 3:57 a.m. near mile marker 161. While it was unclear whether the sedan was driving slowly or stopped in the left lane, the other sedan, driven by a 54-year-old man from Davie, hit the rear of the first sedan.

The collision caused the first sedan to leave the road and overturned it, coming to a stop on its roof. The second sedan rotated and came to a stop on the east shoulder, facing west. While the second sedan was rotating toward the east shoulder, its left rear was hit by a pickup truck, driven by a 64-year-old man from Lantana. The pickup truck came to a controlled stop close to the accident site.

The 54-year-old driver of the second sedan succumbed to his injuries at the car accident in the Florida crash scene. He was not wearing a seatbelt. The case is under investigation.
