Early Sunday morning, a pedestrian was killed and a motorcyclist was seriously injured in a crash on State Road 429 in Lake County.
The Florida Highway Patrol says the crash happened just after 12:45 a.m. on September 27. A 41-year-old Winter Garden man was riding a 2020 Harley-Davidson south in the outside lane of SR 429 near mile marker 42 in the Sorrento area. His motorcycle hit a pedestrian who was in the road.
The pedestrian, a 26-year-old woman from Carrollton, Georgia, died at the scene. The rider was wearing a helmet. He was taken to HCA Florida Lake Monroe Hospital in Sanford with serious injuries.
FHP has not said why the pedestrian was on the highway or whether anyone will be charged. The crash is still under investigation.
