On May 7, 2025, a significant multi-vehicle collision occurred around 2 p.m. on Highway 27 near James Bethea Road in Taylor County, Florida. The incident involved a gas truck, a logging truck, a sedan, and a pickup truck.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 52-year-old man from Perry was traveling westbound when he side-swiped an eastbound logging truck driven by a 67-year-old man from Greenville. The impact caused the gas truck to overturn, coming to rest on its side in the middle of the roadway. The logging truck continued forward, side-swiping both the sedan and the pickup truck before it also overturned, blocking part of the highway. Logs from the logging truck were scattered across the roadway, leading to traffic redirection by troopers.
The drivers of the gas and logging trucks sustained serious injuries and were airlifted to a hospital. The drivers of the sedan and pickup truck suffered minor injuries and were able to pull off on the north side of the highway.
Initially, the Florida Highway Patrol reported that one driver was in critical condition and the other in serious condition. However, a subsequent press release clarified that both drivers were in serious condition.
If any nearby person or vehicle were injured/damaged as a result of the driver’s negligence, there would likely be a valid personal injury claim.
