A deadly crash, involving a train and an SUV, occurred Saturday evening, September 23, 2023, in Hillsborough County, Florida. Six people, including three children, lost their lives in the accident.
The crash happened when the driver of the Cadillac Escalade tried to cross the railroad tracks and was hit by a freight train. The SUV began to catapult and flipped multiple times due to the impact of the crash.
In total, there were seven people, four males and three females, inside the car. Five of them were violently ejected from the car after the crash. All of them died at the scene of the crash. They were identified as Julian Hernandez, 9, Jakub Lopez, 17, Alyssa Hernandez, 17, Anaelia Hernandez, 22, and Enedelia Hernandez, 50.
The driver, Jose Hernandez, 52, later died at a hospital. A front-seat passenger is in a serious condition.
