A head-on collision, involving a 2014 Mazda and a 2019 Chevy Tahoe, occurred Tuesday night, at around 08:13 p.m., on September 13, 2022, on U.S. 331, two miles north of State Road 20 in Freeport, Florida. The drivers of both vehicles involved in the crash were killed.
According to a report by the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), the two automobiles were moving in opposite directions on U.S. 331 when both collided head-on for an unknown reason. Due to the impact, both vehicles caught fire.
Both drivers were declared dead at the accident scene. The Medical Examiner’s Office was working to identify the deceased victims. Southbound lanes of U.S. 331 were blocked for some time after the accident.
