TypeTwo-Vehicle Crash

A fatal two-vehicle crash, involving two SUVs, occurred on I-75 in Suwannee County, Florida in the morning hours of Sunday, April 10, 2022. Two people died and two children sustained serious injuries in the accident.

Troopers responded to mile marker 440 at around 11:20 a.m. to the crash. According to them, just before the crash, the diver of the first SUV, a 28-year-old man from Wimauma, tried to change his lane while being northbound. The vehicle was reported to be moving at a speed higher than the other northbound traffic.

The initial report revealed that the SUV hit the rear of the second SUV and overturned. The impact caused all the occupants of the first SUV to eject from the vehicle.

The first SUV’s driver and his 6-year-old girl passenger were transported to Lake City Medical Center, where both were declared dead. Two other passengers in the SUV – a four-year-old boy and an 8-year-old boy – sustained severe injuries in the accident.

Due to the crash, all lanes of I-75 were closed for a few hours, but one northbound lane was opened by the Florida Highway patrol later on.
