A woman in her 60s was hit and killed by a car in the early hours of Sep. 8, 2020 while trying to cross Colonial Drive in Winter Garden, Florida. The accident took place at around 5:55 a.m. in an eastbound lane of Colonial Drive at Hyde Park Circle. At the time of the incident, two men were propelling trailers/bicycles across the drive, but they were away from the crosswalk. The lady was declared dead at the site of the accident.
The officials at the scene did not confirm any injuries to the other pedestrian. The car driver did not sustain any severe injuries, but was taken to a nearby hospital. According to police, no evidence of driving under the influence of alcohol or any other substance was found. Further investigation is underway.
Pedestrian accidents can be especially dangerous as evidenced by this incident. Often, and sadly, they can result in death.
