In a fatal crash that occurred early Tuesday morning, a 43-year-old woman from Pensacola lost her life after her vehicle veered off an I-10 overpass and crashed onto Pine Forest Road in Escambia County, Florida. The crash took place at approximately 4:45 a.m.
The accident unfolded when the woman, traveling in the inside westbound lane of I-10, approached the exit for Pine Forest Road, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. For unknown reasons, her vehicle gradually drifted towards the left, entering the center grass median.
The car then broke through the protective barrier and became airborne, ultimately descending onto the center median of Pine Forest Road. The impact of the landing caused the vehicle to overturn one and a half times along the embankment on the western side of the overpass, adding to the severity of the crash. The woman driving the vehicle could not survive the crash.
The accident remains under investigation.
If any nearby person or vehicle were injured/damaged as a result of the driver’s negligence, there would likely be a valid personal injury claim.
