A fatal two-vehicle accident, involving a semi-truck and a sedan, occurred after 11:15 p.m. on Tuesday, February 22, 2022, on U.S. 1 and Regalo Road in St. Johns County, Florida. A 23-year-old female driver from St. Augustine died in the crash.

Acceding to Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), at the time of the incident, both vehicles were moving northbound, when the semi-truck, driven by a 39-year-old woman, took a wide U-turn at the intersection of Regalo Road, but ended up obstructing the right and left lanes.

The woman, who was in the sedan, was just behind the semi-truck and veered in an attempt to avoid hitting the semi-truck but eventually collided with the rear of the trailer. The sedan spun out and came to a stop on the right shoulder, facing south.

According to FHP troopers, both drivers were wearing seat belts.
